The Playboy Project
The purpose of this project is to lack the same discretion that playboy and other exploitive companies have of their objectification of women. Women’s bodies are commodified by over-sexualization and idea that women’s bodies are meant to be consumed. Like the recognizable consumer goods such as skippy’s peanut butter and Windex, women’s bodies are presented to fit a mold. Playboy is also only selling one type of woman further pushing a standard quality onto what women are supposed to look like and if the good (body) does not fit this type then it is discarded and not looked at as something that is up to quality for consumers. Only one type of body is pushed into the consumer conscious as being worthy. So, under the guise of women’s sexual liberation Playboy pushes even further the objectification of women.
